A Layman's Guide To Poker Hand Rankings
Poker is a game that relies more on a player’s skill rather than luck no matter if it’s played online or offline. As far as skills are concerned, it takes time to hone particular skills whether it is communication skills, art, hobby. The same goes for poker. For a beginner, poker can be intimidating whether online or offline as there are rules and regulations which might be hard to grasp at the first few games. Also, the game comes in many forms such as Texas Hold’em, OMAHA, etc. Before diving into the hand ranking of poker, Let’s shed some light on the difference between the two.
Texas Hold’em: is a style of poker game where each player is given two cards in hand. A player can i) use two cards of their given hand and use three cards from the board, ii) use one card of their given hand and use four cards from the board, or iii) use all five cards from the board, which is called as “playing the board”.
Omaha: players are given four or five cards in hand, depending on 4 cards Omaha or 5 cards Omaha. Once cards are given to players, five cards are opened on the table. These five cards on the board can be used by any player in any combination and whosoever makes best five cards wins that poker hand. Players can use only and only three cards from the board and have to use two cards from the cards given to them.
These two modes of the game are the most popular and most played on online poker platorms like Spartan Poker, PokerBaazi and Adda52.
